Making mental health services work for men

The suicide rate is now at its highest since 2001 and three-quarters of those deaths are male. Many of the men are unknown to local mental health professionals; women are far more likely to be treated for a mental health problem.

This gender gap has seen male mental health climb the public health agenda. Why don’t men seek help? How To Make Mental Health Services Work For Men pulls together the academic research that seeks to answer this question into a single booklet. It aims to help those who design and deliver mental health services to make them more attractive to men.

The latest in the How To series which I designed, this volume is written by David Wilkins and published by the Men’s Health Forum with support from The Movember Foundation.
