The suicide rate is now at its highest since 2001 and three-quarters of those deaths are male. Many of the men are unknown to local mental health professionals; women are far more likely to be treated for a mental health problem.
The UK is conflicted in so many ways. We’re almost religious about the NHS but when it comes to the the impact of the way we run our society on our health many, especially those in power, couldn’t care less.

Mental health is, for me, the key to all health. The Men’s Health Forum has long produced fantastic little A5 health booklets in partnership with the publishers Haynes called first mini-manuals and now man manuals. This is the first one of those that I have edited and designed.
